post-conference workshop - 8-9.05.2016 Dobogókő

Frank J Grant

Forest Therapeutic Workshop

In today’s modern world where change is evident within every aspect of our lives, this is never more felt than by those of us who find themselves ‘lost’ amid the chaos which sometimes surrounds our every day lives. In addition to struggling in order to keep up with a demanding and changing world, we sometimes struggle daily with trying to better understand ourselves within the context of our lives and the social situation we frequently find ourselves in.

Whether we are aware of it or not, we are in reality, engaged continually in exploring what it means to be human. Life is in essence, a spiritual journey through which we struggle to come to terms with mysteries and uncertainties of human existence whilst trying to establish meaningful standards and values by which to live by.

Many of us travel paths along our life’s journey, and whilst for some, we find our ‘true path’, many do not due to the many distractions and diversions that are encountered along the way. The ‘path’ that works for an individual ‘is’ the right one for that individual, irrespective of the journey they make, both internally or externally.  In to-days ever demanding changing world, many individuals are exposed to lifestyles that prevent them from experiencing an inner peace and connectedness, which inevitably may well lead to a negative state of well-being, both physically and emotionally. In essence, they struggle to find their ‘right path’ for no other reason, than they are not ‘connected’ to their inner being.

It is hoped that participants will leave the workshop, feeling energised to effect positive change within their lives, through having a deeper awareness of the barriers that prevent them from moving positevly forwards with any aspect of their lives.

Note: A certificate of attendace will be provided by the workshop presenter.

Goal of the workshop

Need to re-charge your internal batteries? Feeling a little disconnected from yourself, your dreams, needs, hopes and desires? Do you need to reconnect with your inner self? Are you feeling lost on your life’s journey? Are you being held back by any unresolved trauma issue? Do you trust yourself to do something proactive about it?

This Post Conference workshop, will provide individuals with a unique opportunity, to connect or re-connect with their inner self, through participating in ancient Celtic rituals and ceremonies, utilising Nature and the Natural Environment as a metaphor and tool to effect positive change.

One of the major approaches to this type of Therapeutic work, is the Silent Group Work approach, which allows individuals within the group setting, to internally work through issues and problems, gaining an understanding of how to deal with the barriers, that is preventing holistic positive development in their lives.

This approach works on the principle, that each individual has the ability to ‘heal’ their inner selves and that once barriers preventing forward progress are understood, they can be removed. Participants do not have to openly share with the group their issues, fears, feelings and emotions surrounding any personal issue they wish to privately work on.

Some of the ancient rituals and ceremonies we will experience when journeying through the forest, will include: Silent therapeutic group work; tacky talk; tree meditation; group process work; ancient ceremonies using fire, water, nature, words on the wind, nature’s sculpture and nature’s voice, among other related activities.

On the Sunday evening session, we will be indoors, exploring: Driver Behaviors (Transactional Analysis), and how this affects our presenting persona and psyche to the World. Unseen barriers which prevent us from moving forwards positively with our lives. The value of wilderness therapeutic work and how it can be utilised for any client group, and, Self-awareness exercises.

Due to the nature of the workshop, the presenter will remain at the venue after the end of the Mondays session, to discuss any issues arising from the workshop for individuals. Similarly, arrangements can be made for post conference follow up via email and/or skype.

“Each Sunrise is a breath of new life, an opportunity for the individual to allow themselves to be re-born into a life that pleases the very soul of the spirit – to acknowledge this is to be awake to the possibility of change despite those invisible and visible barriers that surround and contain our very existence”
